Breed: Morgan
Description: Cortell is a Chestnut gelding with a white stripe down his nose and white markings on his legs. Cortell is over 30 years old (but you’d never know it).
Personality: Cortell is a legend at Troop and has been with us for more than two decades. He has taught hundreds to ride over the years. Cortell is a very accomplished escape artist and also enjoys occasionally stopping for snacks during lessons. Even so, he is a pillar of strength and wisdom and we are fortunate to have him in the program. Cortell is skilled at teaching young riders to do things just right because he is too old and wise to listen to confusing commands!
History: Cortell came to Troop from New York City where he worked as a carriage horse. He loves horse shows at Troop and has taken many riders into the winners’ circle!
Special Jobs: Cortell is an active participant in lessons and a favorite during summer camp. He also happily participates in the Halloween Parade and is an all-star in the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Program. He was honored in 2007 as the Pegasus horse/ pony of the year.
